YOUR FASCINATING VISUAL IMPRESSION

Fascinating Visual Impression Exploration + Discovery + Strategy

Create your own visual style... let it be unique for yourself and yet identifiable for others. - Orson Welles

The fourth step of the Fascinating Individual Style™ framework is where you discover the visual impression of your fascinating aesthetic and how it’s perceived impacts you and your relationship with others.

Having a realistic understanding of your visual impression can be an important asset. Since appearance often suggests corresponding behavior, anything inconsistent with that appearance destroys harmony, unity, and any positive impression.

Your inherent visual impression is affected by the:

  • Colour hue, harmony, temperature, value, and intensity of your hair, skin, and eyes.
  • Lines and structure of your body and facial features.
  • Natural composition of textural qualities of your hair, skin, eyes, and, although not visual but aural, your voice.

Our focus is on achieving harmony. By recreating the inherent and unique balance of your visual impression with your personality for a style expression that looks and feels most natural to you, and to others.

Repeating, not competing with what Mother Nature gave you — This is how you create a visual alignment that acts like a magnet inviting people to really SEE you. It allows for greater connection with others on a personal and professional level.

How it works.

Applying the ancient wisdom of the traditional personality concept of yin-yang, we can better understand an individual’s visual impression in design terms.

Yin is representative of inward energy that is receptive, dainty, still, feminine, dark, cold, muted, and negative.

In clothing and design, yin usages would generally be flattening or receding techniques, or reinforce usages of conveying daintiness.

Yang is representative of outward energy that is assertive, dominance, activity, masculine, light, hot, bright, and positive.

In clothing and design, yang usages would generally include advancing techniques, or reinforce usages of conveying drama.

Yin and yang elements come in pairs — such as the moon and the sun, female and male, dark and bright, cold and hot, passive and active, and so on. But note that yin and yang are not static or mutually exclusive terms.

The balance of yin and yang is important. In short, Yin-Yang is the idea that there’s a duality to everything. But rather than this being some kind of conflict between two rival elements, the Yin-Yang argues that there is a great harmony to be found in the contrast between things.

Yin and yang can interchange under certain conditions so that there is not exclusively yin or yang. In other words, yin elements can contain certain parts of yang, and yang can have some component of yin.

Yin-Yang specifically, is about harmony and balance. Things go wrong when we tip the scales too far one way. When things feel wrong, we likely need to find our balance or center again.

This balance of yin and yang is perceived to exist in everything. Yin-yang, then, embodies both sides, duality, paradox, unity in diversity, change, and harmony.

Friendly, Amiable, and Approachable.

In general, individuals that appear to be shorter in height, with smaller bones, smaller facial features, curved or softly molded body lines, light colour value pattern hair, and low contrast level typically have a more friendly, amiable, and approachable visual impression.

Formal, Powerful, and Distant.

In general, individuals that appear to be taller in height with larger bone structure, larger facial features, angular or lean body lines, dark value patterned hair, and high colour contrast typically have a more formal, powerful, and distant visual impression.

Moderate, Classic, and Refined.

In general, individuals who have a combination of the above characteristics, or are medium, or “in between”, or a combination of characteristics, have a visual impression which allows them to easily adapt their look or visual impression to friendly, approachable, and amiable or formal, powerful, and distant.
